Octo Expansion is still brilliant and dark. Octolings were confined to the tunnels and could never hope of escape. So Tartar preyed on that feeling by promising them the surface…only to callously blend them up to use as fuel for his fascist masterplan. 10007 Octolings died thinking they’d finally see the light. I almost cheered when Pearl booyahed him into oblivion. And after Side Order dropped, some info was revealed that’s really heartwarming. Agent 8 had to save their entire race and the Inklings too, and in the process she had to fight and maybe kill her own compatriots who were under Tartar’s spell. Compound that with the fact that she’s just reached light, and she’s probably feeling scared, scarred and alone. But, as was revealed, Pearl and Marina basically adopt 8 and take her on tour with them, letting her socialise, recover, adjust to life above ground, and most of all providing a double helping of motherly love and care. 8, the lone Octoling who was previously just another number, now has a family and friends.

Kinda funny how some of these "bosses" are just large mobs minding their own business, and then when their HP drops below 50% and they get mad, they throw some of the weakest attacks in the history of all Mario games. The dedication to fairness here is insane 😂.

I remember binge playing the entire game 2 years and it was one one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had

I like (most of) the superstar saga bros attacks better because they were more quick which I think made them fit more with the chaotic tone, and also they were harder to pull off in the game boy advance version which made them much more satisfying when you actually get them down and pull them off. edit: also some bros attacks is superstar saga were infinite, which they seem to have removed in the 3ds version in favor of excellents which I don't really like that much, I liked having infinite bros attacks, but I will admit the excellents are satisfying to pull off
